Sharing a video that my theatre group, Mereka, made for an upcoming performance. If anything, watch for the song! (:
Despite the emo-ish title, this is a happy post! And somewhat related to the previous one too.
First outfit post of the year, this was what I wore to Art Stage Singapore. I guess you could say that I was feeling artsy hehe.

Some days, you want to break out the funny pants. The special ones that make you smile without fail every time you put them on. It might be stupid to think of them as having a certain magical quality, but there it is, that ability to make you forget about what was right for once, to make you think, “yes, today’s a day for magical pants, today’s the day.” So you put on the crazy pants, knowing that its crazy cotton material would be like the strongest of armours against the sheer brutality of the world, the world where the middle-aged lady stares at you for making such a choice. And you meet her eye and send her a thought that says “why yes lady, these are my super awesome pants, and I feel sad that you can not appreciate their princely qualities.” But the middle-aged lady looks away, pretending to be distracted by other middle-aged lady thoughts like where to buy the best non-stick cooking pans, or something of that nature. But you know she is still thinking of you and your choice of legwear, yes, the same lady who is sporting the latest fashion in middle-aged-lady-denim. Those are the days when wearing the funny pants are not just a good idea, but necessary.

Went to Art Stage on Saturday and was really blown away by the artwork.
I never used to like contemporary art because I thought it was never beautiful in the way that classic art is (is it even called classic art?), but I think it’s slowly growing on me. Most of all because contemporary art is very relevant to the issues we face today and makes you think about things…about equality and democracy and repression and free speech and femininity and sexuality and objectivity – heavy stuff, very in your face at times, but so interesting! Ah, don’t know if that made sense, I’m no academic, maybe I should take a class and learn more about this.
Alas, we tried to find the naked man but was told that he was no longer showing…geddit geddit showing? Heheh.
On another note, I blogged about the Pompeii exhibition on yesterday.sg, do give my first post a read if you could! Admission is free
from now till it ends on Jan 23rd from Friday to Sunday, so go go go if you haven’t! And since, we’re at it, I guess this would be a perfect time to let you know officially that I’m working at the National Heritage Board now, so once in awhile I’ll talk about our exhibitions and museum events, hope that’ll be of interest to you! (:
I remember being a bit stressed about making the deadline, so this roll of film is really a hodgepodge (don’t you love that word? I do!) of places that I happened to be at, with the later photos taken at different areas around my neighbourhood.
It was quite a refreshing exercise because I explored quite a few new places, like the wet market which I’ve never ever visited. There was an old lady that didn’t look too happy with me for taking her picture, I had to feign ignorance and just walk away calmly!
Here are some of my favourites:
Taken at the wonderful Telok Ayer Performing Arts Centre. which used to be a primary school. I come here every Sunday for theatre practice!
At the Supreme Court/Padang area near dusk, the photos came out dark but I kind of like them!
A lovely birdie at Bishan Park outside Greenroom Cafe.
Say hello to Slinky! Isn’t he so cute and fat?
Overhead bridge near my house, love the one with the contemplating man.
At the wet market, would have taken more photos but I was scared of the old people!
That’s my hood! (: Hope you like it!
Hello my dears! Well we’re well into January aren’t we? It’s only been a week but it feels much longer for some reason.
I hope everyone is doing great! How are them resolutions coming along?
This year, I’ve decided to focus on achieving the right balance – whatever that may entail. Things can get hectic sometimes in life, but I think the key is to strike the right balance – it’s not easy but I think the key is in trying.
Anyways, enough of that. I’m sharing some photos which show what I’ve been up to in the past couple of weeks.
Fatboy in Melly’s house, Christmas
Spanish fries at Artichoke with Pam and Sherms.
I have some exciting news to share which I shall reveal very soon! Super excited about it and can’t wait to share! (:
Happy new week, loves. Remember, what doesn’t kill you can only make you all that more stronger.
