because movement is seductive
1) When I grow up, I’d like a tire swing behind my house, just like in this photo (via Another Day to Dress Up)
2) The Sartorialist slays me with his captions. This one: “On the street…The Dancer, Berlin” – makes me imagine that she’d break out into a move right after the photo was taken. And the question marks on her shoes is almost too perfect!
3) Ah, a couple that plays together! Sweet. (via A Cup of Jo and Once Wed)
made my monday
I’m a daydreamer today, kinda wished I had taken the day off work.
On another (not so dissimilar) note, it’s my birthday tomorrow and I just cannot believe that I’m turning 25. It’s surreal, strange, I don’t know what to feel about it.
La la la! Happy Monday!
And on that (completely different) note, congrats Stephie on the launch of Monday Flying – her spiffy new website about lifestyle, travel and cities!
analog memories
No idea where this is! Somewhere with a giant hand.
My parents in..London i think.
Found these old photos and decided to scan them. My mom wore such amazing outfits then! I wouldn’t mind wearing some of these now! Unfortunately I can’t find the photos of her in her teens – she had Cher-type long hair and wore bell-bottoms all the time! My mom’s damn cool yo! I want her outfits in the 2nd and last photo! Sadly she didn’t keep her clothes..I swear I’ll be keeping my clothes for future daughter!
I think the last photo was taken in London. My mom told me that they didn’t have money to spend so they ate bread for every meal. My dad used to be from SIA so the flights were free! Man those days were good eh?
Ah…these old photos are making me so nostalgic.
you mean money doesn’t grow on trees?
Penny wise, pound foolish.
Erfen always says this about me, I’ll scrimp and save when it comes to say, lunch, but then I go and blow all my “savings” on shopping and the like. When I first started working, I went a little bit crazy due to the sudden increase in monthly income, and would spend more than I should have on clothes and some other frivolous stuff. Seeing my decreasing bank account sobered me up a little bit, and I succeeded in tightening the purse strings a little! Really! But then May came along, and because I’m always so happy in May, and think that I deserve a little treat because it’s my birthday month, I’m embarrassed to say that I spent WAY TOO MUCH this month, and it’s only the first week!
Terrible, terrible nabbycat.
But since the milk’s been spilt, I guess there’s nothing to do about it but tell you about my purchases!
Lucyd Acyd Bandage LeggingsLucyd Acyd Opiates Sweater Dress (Mine’s black)
nicolethen‘s spring floral romper
This awesome Baggu backpack that I had a dream about after seeing it on For Me, For You. (And really, if something appears in your dreams, take it as a sign that you have to buy it!)
And those are just the online purchases! No wonder I am a broke, broke girl! *turns out pockets* And really, online shopping is just so evil!
Also, I have two tickets to a classical concert next Monday. Perchance that any of you are classical music fans and would like to go with me? Let me know if you do! It’s by a French pianist who will play Romantic pieces from Chopin, and a few more composers! I don’t know my classical music but good music is good music right? Promise that I’m not boring company! 😛
four legs good, two legs better
It’s been a long long while since I took a photo of my outfit, and honestly speaking it’s because I’ve been really uninspired of late to dress up. Yesterday I finally got into the mood of mixing and matching my clothes again, and thanks to the brother’s wardrobe I managed to come up with something, if not exactly impeccable, was at least more creative than my usual outfits.
And here’s where I stop jibber-jabbering and let the photos do the talking instead (and because I have a wee headache as well!)
T-shirt: Paul & Joe for uniqlo
Pants, belt and hat: My brother’s
Wedges: Cotton On
Accessories: Diva ring, Swatch watch
I don’t know if you can tell but I wore the pink lipstick! I’m starting to really like it, though it makes my lips look botoxed in the photos, haha! Ooh and sorry for the icky hair, I’ve been wanting to get a hair cut but my hairdresser says that I have to straighten my hair if I don’t want it to look like a mop. Gah! My hair woes continue.
I wore this to the play, Animal Farm, by Wild Rice Theatre. It was so so good and you should watch it if you can, it ends this week I think? They made it so that you start thinking about Singapore and how things are here…thought-provoking stuff! Don’t just do what you’re told, kids!
hediard – a slice of paris in singapore
A week ago I had the pleasure of seeing the filming for a new online tv channel, Almost-Famous.TV together with blogger Dawn Yang and Bobby Tonelli.
We were at a French cafe, Hediard, a gorgeous place which emulates the feel of quaint French cafes in the streets of Paris. Here are some photos of the place!
Ideal location at Tudor Court.
The cafe adjoints a retail store that sells food products like fruit syrup…
fruit jams…
milk jams…
liquer…
tea (and coffee) in an assortment of flavours…
I loved these sugar sticks when I saw them in the Viennese cafes and I thought I wouldn’t have found them here in Singapore, so I’m happy I found these!
chocolates and sweets…
The sweets make me feel like a kid again – I spy soft nougat, praline-filled milk chocolate, sugar coated fine almonds, coffee bean coated with dark chocolate – yummers!
even salt and pasta (and soups, pasta sauce…let’s just say they sell a whole lot of things!)
The decor is deliciously red and black.
The founder of Hediard.
Lovely table setting – coffee with cookies, truffles, macarons, madeleines, chocolate-covered preserved oranges…mmm. And I didn’t even take photos of the warm chocolate lava cake!
Desserts here are to-die-for. Seriously.
Lastly, a photo with the two of them and the owner of Hediard, Verena!
Definitely gonna drop by Hediard again soon – if anything for the desserts! Hediard will be having a promotion in May for a 3-course lunch set for just $30++, as part of the VOILAH French Festival. I think I might just go check it out!
[disclosure: I’m helping to do publicity for Voilah but all reviews are my own, of course!]
