intelligence without ambition is like a bird without wings
I had the most perfect, underrated Sunday.
Had an unexpected breakfast date with erfen at Old Town White Coffee and a short rendezvous at the beach after.
Met sherms for tea with a side of girly chat.
Went to the library by my lonesome and read a book about Salvador Dali (God, he has an excellent moustache!) The title of this post was a quote by him.
Borrowed 3 books and have resolved to learn how to watercolour this year (amongst other things).
Bought a lovely pink notebook to track my marathon training progress, which started this week.
Went for a nice long run to the beach. Two beaches in one day = yowza!
Came home, read abit and after this I shall make myself a cup of Baked Apple Tea from muji and read my new book, “Fashion Makers, Fashion Shapers”.
[note: having read 3 roald dahl books, 1 sherlock holmes book, 1 Kafka short story, a little bit of Alice in Wonderland and one Haruki Murakami, I have decided to take a hiatus from the fiction reading and explore a little non-fiction. Just saying, in case anyone was wondering.]
[another note: Just in case anyone thinks that my day sounds impossibly perfect, I found out that one of my favourite white t-shirts is now an amazingly-ugly yellow after someone else’s washing boo-boo and my room is still in a mess. Again, just saying.]

[Last note, this one to self: This Ikea-bought, particleboard study table has got to go.]
Ta, all!
heart in mouth
Sorry, couldn’t help the title, well it is Saturday night!
Went for our friends Jason and Alex’s wedding today, it was great! Yummy food and I’m so full now, hence decided to blog before I went to sleep.
Whenever I go to a wedding, I get filled with this warm feeling of love and start thinking about my own wedding! Aww…I guess it’s inevitable given my age although I’m not getting hitched anytime soon!
A girl can dream…(and read about wedding blogs and look at photos of pretty brides and bridesmaid dresses and mentally select photos to use in the wedding photo montage and so on and so forth) you get the drift.
Here are some outfit shots I managed to take after coming home, I look stinky though.
Poofy-sleeve dress (worn as top) : nicolethen
Tiered skirt: Stephie’s shop
Magic bag: Fleamarket
Red shoes: Elle, my mom’s.
elephant girl
elephant pants: yay or nay?
Elephant pants, pasar malam (street market) $7.50
I saw this pair of elephant pants at a market next to Parkway, but at the time I didn’t know if I should buy it. I returned to the market the next day, saw they were still there and was convinced that they had potential! Those elephants really call out to me.
Psst…I used rubber bands to give them the “balloon” effect. Pretty cheapo, but it works!
What do you think of the pants? I quite like them!
Goodnight all, tomorrow’s Saturday, so happy weekend!
weekenders
I had a pretty awesome weekend, what about you?
I caught a play by Teater Ekamatra called Bilik Ahmad Berdaki. Some dark stuff there, but I’ve always like dark comedies and absurd plays so I enjoyed it very much!
I brought 3 of my friends along and I didn’t tell them what it was about so they thought it was a comedy! (because the title loosely translates to “Ahmad’s Room is Dirty”) and one of my friends who came along is called Ahmad! Needless to say, they were a bit traumatised by the darkness of the play, which featured a lot of sexual themes violent themes. Oh well, it was an experience though!
I also went to the beach with erfen for a bit on Saturday night, that was pretty nice and we managed to get some good shots!
Saturday’s outfit:
Brother’s shirt used as skirt (I learned this from Monoxious.com!)
Grey tee by Cotton On
Black top used as scarf
Bag from flea market
Shoes from topshop (but really a hand-me-down from my friend Juliane)
I followed the Monoxious tutorial on how to wear a shirt as a skirt. It’s really awesome and I got many compliments for something that is so simple. Loves.
On Sunday I went to PS Cafe at Palais Renaissance to celebrate my friend Pam’s birthday. That was my first time there and it is really nicely-done up! I usually go to the Dempsey one, but for an indoor cafe this really retains the chill-out charm of the Dempsey one, complete with high ceilings. Pretty place. Good for tea times! (but then again I am very biased towards anything tea-time related!)
Sunday’s outfit:
No brand top (bought by mom eons ago and I never wore if because I thought it wasn’t nice)
Skirt from cotton on
Yellow bow brooch from fleamarket
Shoes from mondo
Accessories from topshop
Anyway, this post is called Weekenders because I keep only dressing up during the weekends, and I dress down for work because my job allows me too, but really it’s not good because I love playing with my clothes.
I just don’t know why during the weekdays I just don’t have the inspiration and I usually wake up too late to experiment! (I’m a messy person and I’ll try on 10 million outfits before deciding on the final one.)
Perhaps I should just put more effort into dressing up? I also think I need more clothes! But then again, I always think that. Oh well, a girl always needs more clothes. Nabbycat is a girl, so nabbycat needs more clothes! Hear hear.
i took the polaroid into my room
This has been a tiring week, and has seen many a chocolate pass my lips.
I do not desire to write, so here be photos.
Olya Thompson’s impossibly exquisite home, and kids. (From vogue.com)
I watched Coraline over the weekend and loved it so much. (Photo of Sandra Juto)
A lovely photo from Mark and Zee’s charming engagement shoot. This looks so pretty, can’t believe this is in Singapore! (Happy wedding zee!)
From My Parents Were Awesome, love looking at all those old photos.
Photo taken at my friend Yingzhao’s wedding on new year’s day!
And lastly, a photo of a cat never disappoints.
This quote got to me for some reason:
What is your idea of living hell?

And so, I fare thee well.
